Gotta love the Filson oilcloth material. Tough as nails. This is my everyday fishing hat. The hat is comfortable (once you get it broken in), and will probably last a lifetime. The only negative is price, but like all Filson stuff, the quality is amazing.

I'm almost sad this book is out, because it has so many of my favorite places to fish! Everyone looking to fly fish in the Black Hills of South Dakota would benefit greatly by reading this book. Many places are discussed, and the author has clearly spent a lot of time exploring the streams and lakes he writes about. Easy to follow directions and highly detailed descriptions of the spots make the book an indispensible tool. There is also a good deal of well written history on the the Black Hills that I find myself reading every couple of seasons.

This stuff is always right next to my floatant in my vest. It works great, forcing flies down quickly. Nothing replaces splitshot for those gotta get deep times, but this will fill in when you just need a little extra help getting a fly down. The only drawback is the slimy / sticky texture of this stuff. Once its on your hands it is a little tough to get off. A little goes a long way!

A good mid level line, especially considering its fairly inexpensive price tag. Shoots okay, but seemed to quickly lose its slick coating, and had to be cleaned frequently. I also had some problems with twisting, but a stretch every few weeks seemed to mostly cure it.

The prestige leaders have become my all around leader choice after many frustrating attempts at other brands that I simply could not get to stay straight. A few stretches and these leaders stay straight for the day. Like most manufactured tapered leaders, they are a little lacking in butt section, so I occasionally tie a little extra on them. Every season I'm amazed at how much money I spend on leaders...

I've been using this tippet material for a couple of seasons now, and have had good luck. The tippet material straightens easily with a few stretches, and stays that way pretty well. The material is also quite strong.

Good vest, lots of pockets inside and out including a sizeable pocket on the back that holds my packable rain jacket, water bottle, and a sandwich nicely. It has two built in retractors that work well, and 'd' rings where you need them. The collar is neoprene which stretches and seems quite comfortable. The only thing I would change is the pocket size. The two largest front pockets could be slightly larger, but they work o.k.

Very handy tool. Attaching leaders to line is quick and simple with the knot tool, the nippers work great, and the eye-cleaning tool is very useful.

After purchasing one of these, I liked it so much I replaced the rest of my fly boxes with these.
It is flexible, so bends slightly in your vest. This combined with the soft round edges make it very 'un-bulky' in your fly vest. The magnetic closure keeps it closed very well, and when you drop it in the water (inevitable) it floats. The only con is that the large size box doesn't have enough ridges to hold flies. The small and medium are great, however.

Very effective floatant, keeps flies riding high. It is a very small bottle, but seems to last a LONG time. It also works better than other floatants in cold weather.

The little plastic 'lanyard' that holds the cap on the bottle when open will eventually wear out, which is no big deal. This stuff is pretty amazing.
